a. Students with International Baccalaureate

As of academic year 2007/2008 Spanish universities will be open, without the need for any entry examination, to students from educational systems of EU member states, along with all students who have received the International Baccalaureate certificate, issued by the International Baccalaureate Organisation based in Geneva (Switzerland), and, by virtue of the bilateral agreements on free circulation signed by the Swiss Confederation and the European Union, students from the Swiss educational system. In all cases students must fulfil the academic requirements of their educational systems for university entry.

This form of access to the university is incompatible with any other entry admission processes for academic year 2007/2008, and is not open to students who have already entered a Spanish university.

All entry requirements will be verified by the Open University (UNED). Students interested in this form of entry must present their applications via the Internet, in line with the instructions and deadlines established by the UNED at its website [access]

Once verification is complete, the UNED will issue, as appropriate, a credential indicating fulfilment by the applicant of the corresponding requirements, details on the forms of entry and the definitive qualification for the purposes of access to the Spanish university system.

The aforementioned credential shall be valid in all Spanish universities for the purposes of admission and enrolment.

Spanish universities may demand sufficient knowledge of the language in which teaching is to be imparted, and establish, as has been done in Andalusia, tests which accredit the linguistic competence of students.

Whenever the aforementioned conditions are not met, the procedure for admission shall be as was previously the case:

1. Request the corresponding homologation in line with Spanish secondary education studies. This can be done at:
Ministerio de Educación y Ciencia
Subdirección General de Títulos, Convalidaciones y Homologaciones
Paseo del Prado, 28
28071 - Madrid
Telephone: 91 506 56 00

2. Pass the University Access Aptitude Test (Selectivity):
Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (U.N.E.D.)
Sede Central de Información
Ciudad Universitaria, s/n
28071 - Madrid
Telephone: 91 549 01 00 - 549 36 00

3. Apply for entry to the University (pre-registration) during the registration period established to this end by the Andalusia Single District Commission [access]

b. Students who have successfully completed University studies abroad

Present an application for the homologation of the studies completed abroad, attaching all the legally established documentation. This application should be presented at the Secretariat of the university for which admission is to be requested.

Acceptance or rejection of applications will be dependent on fulfilment of one of the following three requirements:

1. Homologation of a minimum of sixty credits by the Homologation, Adaptation and Equivalence Commission of the corresponding university.

2. Homologation of a minimum of fifteen credits by the Homologation, Adaptation and Equivalence Commission of the corresponding university, along with the existence of a vacant place once the general pre-registration process for the awarding of places to new students in universities in which their number is limited has been completed.

3. Any other procedure which each University may establish.

c. Students in possession of a University Certificate obtained from a university or higher education centre abroad

Request the corresponding homologation of the foreign certificate at the Spanish Ministry of Education and Science.

Those students who are granted the corresponding homologation by the Spanish Ministry of Education and Science shall be treated in the same way as their Spanish counterparts, with entry to the University depending on them receiving a place in line with the corresponding pre-registration process.
